Amoral, showing their colours!

Things have been pretty up-side-down in the Amoral circle for the past year, but you've got to admire this band for the spirit and sportsmanship they have shown throughout. Despite losing lead vocalist Niko Kalliojärvi, they have continued to enjoy the ride. Although the parting was a sad one, his motivation was no longer there, and understandably for him to carry on would have been a betrayal to himself aswell as the band. Still, he remains one of my favourite vocalists of all time, and I wish him all the best.

Now, in order to address the controversy surrounding the new pair of lungs in the Amoral machine - Ari Koivunen, (bronze-medalist at the Karaoke World Championships AND Finnish Idol winner,) I must point out that when Niko left, the remaining guys agreed in their statement that they would like to take things in a more melodic direction, which is something that they have obviously been unable to do before now. Their death metal, thrashy roots back in the "Decrowning" days were extraordinary, but it's good to see things are going so well for them now, what with the new album in the works, (if you havn't already, be sure to pre-order "Show Your Colours" from Record Shop X,) and Ari is a fantastic, versatile musician who will hopefully continue to succeed. Amoral definitely deserve it \m/

Introducing 2009...

Welcome one and all.
Well, what a year 2009 has been so far. Sadness, in Petri leaving his Norther days behind, and utter devastation in the tragic passing of Miika Tenkula (sincere condolences to his family and friends.)

It's been a riot of a beginning, and there is plenty more to come - with the promise of several upcoming metal releases lurking in the mist! Ajattara and Amorphis at the end of this month, Eternal Tears Of Sorrow in April, Amoral in May, not to mention Insomnium in September!

Watch this space.
